The following is a basic overview of the society rules and details, for further information please refer to the full Society Constitution by clicking on the Quick Link on the left (see the section references in red beside each rule).
Basic Details
The 2016 Championship will run from March through to October, with around two games per month. (Section 2)
A £40 membership fee will be payable at the start of the season to provide a fund for course deposits, prizes and other expenses. This deposit will be returned to you via the greenfee subsidies and at the end of season Finals day, paying for the meal and other benefits. (Section 2)
Before each round (excluding the pre-season Texas Scramble and Finals day) a draw will be held to determine the order of play and playing groups. (section 2&6)
We will use the standard Stableford scoring system for all competitions and personal handicaps will be re-calculated based on the Stableford points scored after each round to a maximum handicap of 28. (section 3)
Society Rules
Timekeeping - All players to be at the course AT LEAST 30min before the first tee time. If you are not at the course by that time you will be placed in the final group out. (section 6)
Dress Code - Our basic dress code must be conformed with, any "club specific" rules will be highlighted before the game (section 6)
Lost Ball - You must take a MAXIMUM of 5 minutes to search for a lost ball. We have introduced an unofficial rule, if you lose a ball unexpectedly, drop another beside the fairway at the rough distance you lost the first, TAKING A TWO SHOT PENALTY. This is effectively "stroke and distance", other exclusions apply. (section 7)
Gimmies - No Gimmies will be allowed, all putts MUST be sunk. (section 7)
Young trees and saplings - A free drop will be allowed, no free drop from MATURE trees or bushes, a one stroke penalty drop will be allowed (local club rules may also apply). (section 7)
Competitions
Main Championship - Will consist of a minimum of sixteen, 18 hole rounds with your best ten scores to count. Only completed rounds played will count, if you don't play you don't score. (section 4)
Nearest the Pin - Played on one hole at each course, the winner is the player who wins the most rounds, ties will be decided by the player who got nearest the pin over their rounds won. (section 4)
Longest drive - Played on one hole at each course, the winner is the player who wins the most rounds, ties will be decided by a play off on the next suitable hole on Finals day. (section 4)
Tim Aberdeen Memorial Shield (Formerly the Presidents Cup) - A singles knockout competition using personal handicaps and Stableford scoring. (section 5)
Team Challenge - A two match, one day competition between a Captains team and a Chairman's team. (section 5)
Weekend Away Champion (Borders Championship) - Awarded to the winner of the two weekend away games. (section 5)
Round Winners Pot - Each player who wishes to enter pays £1 at each game. The winner on the day takes the pot. (section 2)
Two's Pot - Each player pays 50p at each game. The pot will be divided on a pro-rata basis on Finals day. (section 2)

PICK UP YOUR BALL AND WALK ON
